Os Dez Mandamentos

Synopsis

Moses has freed his people from Egypt and now faces a new challenge: leading thousands of Hebrews through the desert towards the Promised Land. To reach Canaan they must cross territories held by hostile kingdoms, who fear that the people of the God of Israel will invade their lands. Despite all the wonders they have witnessed, some Hebrews still doubt Moses and, at the first sign of hardship, complain and conspire against him, making his task even harder. Moses' challenge is to turn the Hebrews into a holy and powerful nation and defeat the enemies who will try to destroy them before they reach Canaan.

About the production

It is the first Brazilian telenovela, and the first in the world, based on a biblical story. It was originally planned for 150 episodes in four phases, with recording in Rio de Janeiro and exterior filming in the Atacama Desert in Chile, plus locations in Paraná. It is considered one of the most expensive productions in the network's history, with an estimated cost of R$ 700,000 per episode. The production built 28 sets and a city set of more than 7,000 square metres representing the Hebrew, Egyptian and Midianite cities, filmed with Arri Alexa digital cameras.

Michele Lavalle directed the entire telenovela; general director: Alexandre Avancini.
